Collection: Rachel Ara

Rachel Ara was an internationally renowned artist until she was canceled in 2019 for believing that sex was immutable. With a background in programming and cabinet making, she made large-scale works with humor and poignancy that deal with feminist, technological, and political issues. She is most celebrated for her work “This Much I’m Worth” - an artwork that continually calculates its value in real time. She has shown in world-class venues such as V&A London, Barbican, Vienna Biennale, Whitechapel Gallery, MMCA - Seoul and MAK Vienna. She now works as a janitor and makes work when she gets the time.

Inspired by the old Steenbeck Editing Machine used for editing film, the artist Rachel Ara has created her design in the shape of a woman’s uterus that projects the words: Reel Women.
… The most radical film you can make is to record what is happening now.
